Rhythm & Rhyme: The Romantics
Dear Ones,
I have always had a casual love of poetry. I did not study this form of literary expression much in school, and my own angsty phase was too tied up in religious writings to open myself readily to any real feeling (ah to be a repressed, and deeply sensitive, little Christian closeted queer boi), but poetry, when it was allowed to penetrate my psyche, always brought, in parts equal parts, pleasure, inspiration, and catharsis.
As I have gotten older, come more into myself, and delved more deeply into these works, poetry has taken up a more generous space in my brain. I am, it should come as no surprise to those who know me, particularly drawn to the work of the Romantics; like Keats, Byron, and particularly Shelley. What is it that draws me to these deeply problematic, wondrously sensitive, cruel and beautiful poets? I think I must be a sad boi myself, a nihilistic millennial who finds in the bittersweet Romantic optimism, an expression of hope that resonates with the idealism I so desperately cling to. Or I may just have a hard-on for sensitive fuckbois with a gift for word craft. 😏
Whatever the case, I am so wagging excited for Noveltease Theatre’s next production, Rhythm & Rhyme: The Romantics.
On Saturday, May 14 Rhythm & Rhyme: The Romantics comes to West Hall (Century Ballroom). Hosted by Sailor St. Claire, and featuring performances by Onyx Asili, Fosse Jack (that's me!), Lulu La Lune, Alexa Perplexa, Moscato Sky, and Solangerie; with featured poets C.R. Grimmer, and Michael Hodges. With live musical accompaniment by The Joe Caslini Trio featuring Café au lait Olé and Sabrina Suprima Pope.
Rhythm & Rhyme is Noveltease Theatre’s quarterly cabaret series fusing poetry, burlesque, and live music. Each salon focuses on a different poetic movement, with a rotating cast of burlesque performers, bands, and featured poets to bring salacious sonnets, ribald rhymes, and comely cantos to life in an atmosphere of frivolity and intellectual curiosity.
This event includes an in house bar provided by The Tin Table, with full table services for VIP ticket holders.

I hope you can join us on May 14th for this truly decadent evening of poetry, live music, and burlesque. It promises to be a truly sublime evening.
